Michigan Wolverines College Football Picks coach Rich Rodriguez hopes to finally turn the corner in Ann Arbor and that is what had better happen as everyone is getting impatient. Michigan opened up the 2009 season with a 4-0 record and proceeded to loose seven of their last eight football picks. This sports handicapper believes Rodriguez in more than on the hot seat as he enters his 3rd season with a 8-16 record. It is not known how many game Rich Rod needs to keep his job but they had better win at least 1 game on the road, get invited to a bowl game and give Ohio State at least half of a battle. Michigan went 5-7 against the spread in 2009, going over the betting odds total 7 times and under 5 times. The young Wolverine offense ranked 58th overall averaging 384.5 yards per game, 81st in yards through the air per contest with 198.3, in true Michigan fashion the team ran the ball pretty good averaging 186.2 yards per game which ranked 25th nationally and they scored 29.5 p oints per game 41st best. The Michigan defense wasn't good at all as they gave up 393.3 yards per game, they gave up 172 per game on the ground, 221.4 thorough the air and gave up 27.5 points per game, all ranked in the lower half of the NCAA Football Picks landscape.
The 2010 Michigan offense coordinator decided to leave the quarterback job open in the spring with last years starter Tate Forcier, Denard Robinson and true freshman Devin Gardner all competing for the job. This sports handicappers has heard that the ultra athletic Denard Robinson will be the starter and personally I think he fits the offense better. When he is not at in the game playing quarterback, he will be in the game at some skilled position. Roy Roundtree and Junior Hamingway will be the go to receivers. Junior running back Michael Shaw will get the majority of carries and this can can flat out run the ball, he will be the surprise player in the entire big Ten conference. The offensive line only lost 2 starters and the team ran the ball pretty well last season.
The defensive unit will install the 3-3-5 scheme that Rodriguez ran at West Virginia, defensive coordinator Greg Robinson has never ran a 3-3-5 but something has to change. The new defense should also give the team a better pass rush. Linebacker Obi Ezeh had a poor season in 2009 but should rebound and adapt to the new set. The defense lacks experience in the secondary but Troy Wolfolk is a guy that can play cornerback or safety. The defensive line will also need to replace Donovan Warren and Brandon Graham, who have gone on to the NFL? Plenty of players will be competing for jobs on the Michigan defense. The Wolverines will go 8-4 and make it to a bowl game this season. There is hope in Ann Arbor.
